Actors: Darnell playing Josh, Aaron playing James

First Part: Josh and James are walking to a registration office where they go to sign up for the first world war. These two boys are only 15 years old. James get persuaded by Josh to join the war. Josh shows him propaganda posters on the way to the registration office and tells him that the war would be over by Christmas. Josh also tells him that he will be fighting for his queen and country and that he shouldn’t be afraid to die because he is dying for a good cause. James is having second thoughts about signing up for the army and feels like he doesn’t need to go but then believes that his father would be proud of him if he went to the war to serve his country. Spoken thought is used just before Josh and James sign up for the army.

Second Part: Josh and James are in the war and are cornered by the enemy. They can see a checkpoint 2 miles away and James believes that he can make it to the checkpoint by foot. Josh is telling James to stop himself from going and that they should all stay together as a group but James starts to take a leading role because he is the one that always followed Josh but now it would be Josh’s turn to follow him. While James is running to the checkpoint Josh can see that the Germans were hiding behind cobver and are about to shoot James. Josh shouts his name out as he gets shot. Josh runs to him, pulls him into cover and shoots the remaining Germans in that section. This would be James’s last moments alive and is struggling to breath and is choking on his blood. James lies on his lap as he dies. 

Third Part: Josh is by himself in a dimmed room and is writing his condolences to James’s parents. While this is happening he gets angry with himself, blaming himself for James’s death. He then gets himself together and continues writing.

Design (Lights & Audio) 

In the first part the normal bright light is going to be used throughout the whole scene. In the second part there will be the colour red (to indicate death) and the normal light throughout the scene. In the third part there will be a normal light being used throughout the whole scene so that it could be seen as a flash light is being used as he writes his condolences.

There will only be audio used in the second scene. This audio will be a heart beat getting slower and slower and the other one would be heavy breathing.

In the second scene there will be freeze frames starting at the point where the character josh shouts his friends name out. These frames will be play type of thing, a different position each time. Red will be used at the end of the scene to indicate death and terror in the battlefield of war.
