Understanding Of Character
My character Brisies is a very disobedient character that doesn’t listen to anyone other than her lover who she is overly attracted to. Brisies doesn’t realise what trouble she had put herself in by not listening to her father. Brisies is only with Achilles for protection and power so that she could be seen as a woman who is married to a very powerful man. In scene 4 Brisies is acting very stubborn to her father but still tries to get his forgiveness back but she just doesn’t think that he understands. Brisies would also always try to back up anything that was said about Achilles, she just tries to persuade her father to think that he isn’t that bad of a man.
Choice Of Costume
My choice of costume was a working blazer, a tie and a dressing gown. The reason for this is because this scene has no setting so me and my partner in the scene Darnell had picked for the setting to be in Brisies’s bedroom. The scene says that there is a sound of a gun battle. So we had also said and set that the scene would be brisies’s bedroom that is on the coast of a battlefield. The dressing gown shows that brisies is in her room no matter what the props are it shows that she is in her room and is ready for bed.
Use Of Semiotics
This scene shows just how stubborn Brisies is to her father and how much she actually loves Achilles. As brisies looks out of the window and touches her hand on the window is shows that she does really care for the people who are fighting in the war just outside her bedroom. Brisies looking in at the ceiling not knowing that her father is right behind her shows that she doesn’t know that her father is physically behind her or she is just trying to ignore him because of how annoying she finds him. As Brisies sleeps she finally has time to put her mind to rest, sleep is the only time she can stop thinking about Achilles and the war.
Use Space
This scene uses most of the stage for the part with Brisies and ghost. Brisies doesn’t know where her father is so she just walks arounf her bedroom looking into the thin air trying to locate where her father is talking to her from. Ghost follows Brisies around the room and watches her every move while she struggles to see him.
Use Of Prop, Lighting, Sounds
The props that were used were blocks. They were used to be beds and a table where Brisies could take her make-up of before getting into bed. The sounds that were used were the sounds of war. In the distance you could hear bombs, gunfire and many more things that would be in the war. The way we used it was that the sound of a falling bomb would wake Brisies up from her deep sleep. Once Brisies had looked out the window and saw the tragedy outside her window she closes the window and the sound of war starts to dim.
