How is tension created and relieved?

In this chapter tension is created by atticus when he finds out that Mr Heck Tate isn’t around to help him. Atticus says ‘that changes things, doesn’t it?’. By this it makes the readers think that atticus is ready to fight or standing up to protect Tom Robinson.

Another part where tension is created is when Atticus says to jem ‘Please Jem, take them home.’ This shows that atticus is pleading for his children to go home because he knew that something bad was going to happen. Here atticus is very commanding and is demanding jem to go home.
