How is Calpurnia’s identity shown in Chapter 12 of TKAM?
This chapter is mostly all about Calpurnia and her lifestyle. In this chapter we have found out that calpurnia had been working for two families Miss Budford and Atticus Finchs families. Calpurnia does not know how to read but educated her son Zeebo by teaching him a book called Blackstone’s Commentaires ( Written by Mr Blackstone who wrote fine English). This chapter shocks us because it shows that Calpurnia is living a double life because when she is in the Finch’s house she acts more like the community she is in and when she is in a Black community she talks and starts to act just like them.
‘Whats your Birthday cal?’ ‘ I just have it on Christmas’. This quotation shows that cal really doesn’t know when her birthday is and just puts it on a special day so she can always remember.
